Week one in Edinburgh - 4 Stars!!

Well, we have finally made it to Auld Reeky (Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, Europe for gods sake) and are doing daily shows in the Famous Spiegeltent. The locals have found our shows amazing, especially when we pull out a genuine UK accent. I think they are laughing because it's so true...

We even did a show about Witch Burning here in Edinburgh (a rather tasteless pastime in the 16th and 17th centuries). We made it moving, funny and not a single witch was even scorched. Thats what Broadway can do, my friends, make history fun and accessible without the unpleasant 'facts' getting in the way.

Saw the most incredible dancers last night, The New Art Club, they were so serious and committed and yet the audience could not stop giggling. Thats one of the risks off doing serious art in a comedy festival, the audience dont know when they are in the presence of genius. These guys are geniuii. Genii. Both are a genius, okay??

And yes, we got a 4 start review!! I wasn't mentioned by name which is a little disappointing, but it's about sharing the glory and we're all so pleased (is 'Chad Bradley' too hard to spell?). Considering the competition in this town right now its frankly astounding we got a review so early at all. So even if I didnt get a little mention by name, singled out or in any way made to feel special, I'm totally cool with that. It's not about me. It's about the business called show.

I just found out there's a Peace and Spirituality Festival on in Edinburgh in August! How is it possible they will find either in that crazy town in that crazy month?

This, my friends, is the most humiliating thing I've ever done! To have to even audition was demeaning, but to lose was beyond horrible.

Just saw this on youtube; brilliant piece on how to speak authentic Scots. I'm hoping to learn how to speak with a flawless Scottish accent so as to pass for a local while I'm in Edinburgh. Watching Braveheart, Highlander and the Last King of Scotland (that last one's confusing me).

Yes, it's true - Spontaneous Broadway's going to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival. We will be doing our stuff at the Speigeltent from Aug 10 to 30, so if you're there, come and see the show!

What a show! A crazy tale of magic, mayhem and Medusa - yes, the actual Medusa (chick with the hair snakes, turns people to stone, you know) - played by Julia Zemiro. Three of us got turned to stone, one levitated, one hurt his back, but it was worth it!!

Whale Song at Warranambool?

Going to Warranambool on Saturday. This is a romantic place where the Whales come into the shore and you can play with them, ride on their backs and they do tricks for you. Or am I getting confused with dolphins?

Anyway, I really hope they dont ask us to do any whale songs (very hard to hold a note, kinda weird to tell a story and those bass notes below human hearing, I mean, what's the point?)

Saturday - must be Moorabbin!

Yes, Kingston did us proud with a very local musical set in Chaddy shopping centre around the time people go nuts at Christmas. We had it all, bored teens, skinny Santas, lost souls at 2am, and a finale where the show stopper 'Giant Shopping Centres Drain Our Souls' stopped the show.

Dandenong!

We took the show to the Drum and beat it big time last Friday night! Joined by the amazing Oberon St James (Rik Brown), we ended up in Russia in the 20's, at a beauty pageant where the only winners were men dressed as women. Finally, Joseph Stalin himself found a real woman to love and became not a Man of Steel but a Man of Honour. Now that's what a musical should be!

I'm touring with Spontaneous Broadway across Regional Victoria and it's been astounding! The freeway system in this state is just wonderful.
